Types of braces
At Smile Perfection in Aspley and Chermside, our visiting orthodontist Dr Daxter Yeo can assess your oral health and determine which orthodontic option is right for you.
We offer a range of orthodontics to help straighten your teeth and improve your oral health. From traditional metal braces, to more modern clear braces and invisible lingual braces, Smile Perfection has the orthodontic treatment for you.
Straight teeth are good for your oral health for a number of reasons: They are easier to brush and floss which means less chance of decay. They are better for the health of your gums. Crooked teeth can lead to a misaligned bite which can lead to jaw problems, such as temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD) and teeth grinding.
If your teeth are crooked, Smile Perfection offers a number of orthodontic treatments such as:
Invisible lingual braces: These braces are truly invisible because they are applied behind the teeth. Since they are difficult for the casual observer to detect, these braces allow you to smile with confidence. Depending of the severity of your case, treatment with lingual braces last anywhere from 6 months to 24 months.
Clear braces: These braces are made of a ceramic or crystalline material and are popular with teens and adults because they are very difficult to see. The use of clear braces with clear wires has made these braces even more aesthetically pleasing.
Metal braces: These are the most common type of braces. The brackets are much smaller than they used to be and kids can have fun choosing different coloured elastic bands to go with them.
Clear aligners: These are used to straighten your teeth without wire or brackets. Invisalign uses a series of virtually invisible, removable and comfortable aligners to straighten your teeth.
We cater to patients of all ages, from children as young as 7 to adults looking improve the health and appearance of their smile. Early intervention orthodontics for children around the age of seven is aimed at preventing an incorrect bite from happening.
Thanks to advances in orthodontics, adults seeking discreet, lifestyle-friendly options for treating their crooked teeth can now get the treatment they want.
